Community Foundation launches new campaign in support of senior care workers

Residents and others who follow Meadowlark on Facebook may have seen the image above, and at least one resident approached Becky Fitzgerald, Development Director, with questions about this effort. Here’s a recap of that conversation and a bit more information. Has Meadowlark launched a new fundraising campaign? No, but thank you! While Meadowlark Foundation appreciates an effort to recognize senior care employees in Manhattan, no one currently associated with Meadowlark proposed this Appreciation Fund.
Deck the Walls

Prior to opening the renovated Prairie Star to residents on Feb. 8, Meadowlark’s leadership team couldn’t help but notice the blank canvas of the neutral-painted walls. Everyone agreed that the new spaces would benefit from the color and interest that works of art lend to our environments. Jayme Minton and Becky Fitzgerald, staff liaisons to Meadowlark’s resident Art Committee, accepted the task of decking the walls, and they started with paintings already in Meadowlark’s art collection.
Spheres are Here!: Successful Clean Air Campaign Brings Biotechnology to Meadowlark

Despite Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of six more weeks of winter on Groundhog Day 2021, Meadowlark residents and employees have the hope of a healthier spring as the six-week Meadowlark Clean Air campaign comes to a successful conclusion. As of Tuesday, Feb. 2, nearly 60 friends near and far had contributed toward the purchase of Dry Hydrogen Peroxide (DHP) technology, which has been proven to safely and effectively mitigate viruses, bacteria, mold, and insects, both in the air and on surfaces.
Meadowlark Clean Air Campaign: A Challenge to Our Community

The statistics are startling. About 42 percent of COVID-19 related deaths across the nation have occurred in long-term care facilities. While Meadowlark and other Riley County retirement communities haven’t been hit has hard as other Kansas facilities, our organization has not been immune to this novel coronavirus. This is why two local foundations have teamed up to help provide a safe and proven weapon for Meadowlark’s continued fight against this invisible enemy and other microbial threats.

Delightful Discoveries Gift Prints added to Meadowlark collection Meadowlark’s collection of Friends of Art gift prints grew recently thanks, in part, to some detective work by Alyn West, gallerist at Manhattan’s Strecker Nelson West Gallery. Prior to last week, the collection, which hangs in the Stamey Gallery in the hallway between the KSU Classroom and Verna Belle’s Cafe , needed five prints to be complete. Now, only two prints remain to be discovered.
Shop 'til You Drop!

Meadowlark Market, a store offering furniture and fabulous finds, will again be open later this month at 1217 Meadowlark Circle. The June hours and dates are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 30. All are welcome to shop and spend! New items for June, so far, include three coordinating storage/display pieces, a leather rocker/recliner, an oak glider with nifty red cushions, a vintage rooster cookie jar, and two 14- karat gold and opal rings. Sharing a Legacy - 17th annual Legacy Award

Meadowlark’s amenities, services, and people are three facets to a gem of a community that’s better prepared and skilled at helping us navigate life’s pathways. At the 17th annual Legacy Society Banquet on May 13, Meadowlark Foundation had the pleasure of recognizing five friends who have been leaders and cheerleaders as we’ve walked together. Kim Richards, Cindy and Wayne Sloan, Jane Westfall, and Kip Williams have done much to keep Meadowlark a step ahead.
Grow Green Match Day 2019

Meadowlark fund grows by more than $26,500! During a 24-hour period on Monday, 58 local non-profit endowment funds received more than $520,000 in private, charitable gifts from supporters. With Greater Manhattan Community Foundation providing a 50% match to eligible donations ($25 to $1000), the total raised during the 7th annual Grow Green Match Day tops $780,000!
