Q: Will residents and staff be able to cast a 'final vote' for the CEO candidate?
A: We have concluded our interviews with the three finalists. The candidates are Lonnie Baker, Matt Loyd and Valerie McGhee.
Between 2007 and 2010, the Kansas Sampler Foundation sponsored contests to determine the top 8 Wonders of Kansas. More than 100,000 people voted to determine winners and finalists in the categories of Architecture, Art, Commerce, Cuisine, Customs, Geography, History, People, and overall.
Residents and Passport members are invited to join Amanda Rall and Becky Fitzgerald for a trip to Lucas, Kan., for tours of the 4th Wonder in the Art category: the Garden of Eden and the Grassroots Art Center. This artsy adventure is set for Thursday, May 16.
The Kahler family invites you to join them on Sunday, April 14, in the Community Room to celebrate Betty and Shorty’s 70th anniversary. Their three daughters will present a short concert to celebrate a lifetime of songs. Due to space restrictions, there will be two concerts that guests may choose from to attend, one at 2 p.m. and the second at 3:30 p.m. Cake and punch will be served in the foyer and there will be extra seating in the Game Room.
The semi-annual Rasmussen 8-ball Tournament will commence in April. If you are interested, a sign-up sheet may be found in the Billiards Parlor. Tournament play will begin Monday, April 15, and conclude Tuesday, April 30. If you have any questions, contact Tracy Musselman at 323-3878.
In response to the recent questions that have emerged in the Ask Annie! column of the Messenger, the Sales Team will be hosting an open forum for all residents to attend and have their questions answered regarding Healthcare and Transitional Care sales and rates, Adult Day Services, Independent Living rental fees and courtesy days. They will also be happy to answer other questions you have pertaining to sales at Meadowlark Hills!
Q: Who was responsible the improvements of the Meadowlark statue and the sign at the Kimball Avenue entrance?
Tai Chi classes will resume at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Community Room. Classes will be held at 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from Tuesday, April 2, to Tuesday, July 2. Tai Chi instructor, Laurie Pieper, would like to keep class sizes to 12 participants, to ensure ample space and safety. Sign up now in the Blue Book, located at the Hospitality Desk. Participants new to Tai Chi are encouraged to attend on a regular basis, as the class will build from one class to the next. There will be no additional fee for residents and passport members.
Therapy Services will host two health fairs in April for Assisted Living and Independent Living residents and families. The first opportunity will start at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the Tinklin Pointe Dining Room. The second starts at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, in the Community Center Game Room.
Q: Is there someone at Meadowlark Hills that can help me with my taxes, including getting my documents together?
A: Meadowlark Hills Finance team is not able to offer tax advice or assistance. However there is a great FREE community resource. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are at the Senior Center until April 12. To make an appointment and find out what documents you need to bring, call 537-4040.
Ever wonder how you can volunteer without even leaving the Meadowlark Hills campus? There are opportunities available to meet that need.
At Meadowlark Hills, a committee was created to be just that: representatives and messengers of the organization. You can volunteer to participate in the Ambassador Committee.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, the definition of an ambassador is an authorized representative or messenger.
The committee meets twice a month and each meeting brings more enthusiasm than the last!
