Q: My primary care physician is another physician here in Manhattan; may I use the Meadowlark Hills Physician Office for urgent medical care?

Q: Some of us were recalling that a few months back, we had a food survey. What happened with that and if that information was to be used, then we are wondering how?
Q: Can you walk us through the procedure for reserving a meeting or dining room, making arrangements for food, technology support, housekeeping needs, etc?
Great question. We are fortunate to have many wonderful options for conference, dining and worship areas for gatherings on campus. I can walk you through the process now that Liz Birk, the Hospitality staff Receptionist, walked me through.
The Helping Hands Fund is a fund essentially started by Meadowlark Hills employees for employees in financial need. The fund provides critical support in times of medical or family hardships. It was initiated after an employee’s house had burned down.
Employees may qualify for a Helping Hand if they have found themselves in an extenuating circumstance that creates a situation in which they may have an interruption in income. The Helping Hands is funded exclusively by generous donations from residents and employees.

Knowing when to quit and throw in the towel is a judgment call that develops for some with age. Persons with a yen for independence fiercely hang onto making their own decisions. This is never more true than deciding to sell one’s wheels and quit driving.
I am beholden to K-State students for helping me make the decision to be, for the first time in 79 years, without wheels. I sold my car.
According to the National Institutes for Health website, pulmonary fibrosis affects 200,000 Americans. Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition in which the lung tissue becomes thickened, stiff and scarred. As this process occurs, the individual loses the ability to transfer oxygen to the bloodstream. Most cases of pulmonary fibrosis have no known cause and survival rate is low.
Q: Is there a place on campus where we can dispose of prescription and over the counter drugs?
This is a great question. It is important that we all dispose of medications properly and do not flush medication down the toilet or throw them in a trash can without taking additional measures.
The Parkinson’s Program of Manhattan at Meadowlark Hills receives the 2013 “Excellence in Social Accountability” award for providing high-quality services to elders with Parkinson’s disease and education to the broader community.

Q: On the Ziploc boxes it states that when clean and dry, Ziploc bags can be recycled, is this true for our recycling?
Thank for another great question! While the box says you may recycle Ziploc bags, the local recycling service does not accept plastic bags of any sort. This includes Ziploc bags, grocery bags and newspaper bags.
