This past year, qualified kindergarten through third grade USD 383 students saw their reading abilities improve thanks to a personalized approach to their needs; they worked with a reading tutor twice a week.
The sessions last only 30 minutes, but Manhattan educators have discovered the one-on-one sessions have the ability to improve reading scores as well as increase self-confidence and improve students’ attitude toward school.
Look out! Our storage units are busting at the seams and the Meadowlark Hills Market is right around the corner! All year round, we have been accumulating gently used items that will be featured at the rummage sale. We have treasures of all types, from practical furniture to electronics to one-of-a-kind knick knacks! Boy, are we excited to get started! The Meadowlark Hills Market will be underway Friday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 17!

Retirees take advantage of auditing college courses
Looking back to my years spent inside the classroom, I am beginning to have textbook withdrawals (however, I don’t miss how much they cost). It has been just over seven months since I was sitting in the traditional classroom, but oh, how I miss the debates, late night cram sessions and wondering how I would apply what I was learning to my everyday life.
After the smoke of the jet engines and the squeal of the plane’s tires hitting the runway subsided, John Lindholm and Ed Call expressed gladness to be home from their flight to Washington D.C. despite the wonderful adventure.
Q: What type of items can I donate to the Meadowlark Hills Market?
With the Meadowlark Hills Market fast approaching this is an appropriate question!
The Meadowlark Hills Market accepts a wide variety of items such as gently-used furniture, vintage clothing, small appliances, handmade items, home décor, pictures, painting, books, records, holiday decorations, etc. The only thing we do not ask for is any clothing that was produced after 1980. We will be having clothing drive shortly after the Market and will be accepting these items at this time.
