Q. Each year Easter seems to fall on a random Sunday. How is this Sunday determined?
This is a great question as Easter seems to sneak up on us every year no matter how early or late it falls!
Anahi Sosa is in her senior year at Kansas State University. She is majoring in Art with an emphasis in Photography. Anahi is currently working on a Bachelor of Fine Arts Show, for partial fulfillment of her degree, to be displayed at the end of the spring semester. For this project she would like to use photography as a form of expressing the world and a clearer expression of what she sees in other people.
This is where she needs our help! She is looking for interested persons that would be willing to be photographed and have their photos displayed in her art show.
Q. What was your favorite academic class ever taken?
What a fun question to consider! I am fortunate to have taken many wonderful courses. I have had wonderful teachers throughout my studies.
Some of you may be familiar with the hit reality TV series, America’s Got Talent. It is a talent show that features singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and other performers of all ages competing for the top prize of one million dollars!
It’s that time of year again to host the Meadowlark Hills Talent Show at 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, in the Community Room. Talented amateurs and unknown performers will gather to compete for the title! Bring your songs, poetry, artwork, comic routine or any other show of unique talent!
Residents and Passport members are invited to join in the day trip adventure to Abilene, Kan., for a tour of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Museum and dine at the Brookville Hotel. The excursion is set for Thursday, March 13.
Transportation will depart for Abilene at 1 p.m. from the Village Entrance. After arriving, we will take a self–guided tour of the Boyhood Home of Eisenhower.

Q: Do we have federal and state guidelines for when to lower the flag to half-staff? If so what are the guidelines and who ensures we are following them here at Meadowlark Hills?
The Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs mission is to provide Kansas veterans, their relatives, and other eligible dependents with information, advice, direction and assistance through the coordination of programs and services. Meadowlark Hills will host Veteran Service Representative, Tatiana Mateo-Gomez based out of Junction City and Manhattan Veterans Centers, at noon, Thursday, Feb. 20, in the KSU Classroom for a short presentation. Following a lunch break, take the opportunity to meet Tatiana for further discussion of services at 1 p.m. in the West Conference Room.
Q: I find the hallways to be hot, even on warm days. This concerns me, not only due to my comfort, but also from an economic stand point. The service stairways are often blasting hot. Why is this and how can it be fixed?

I'm writing a book about people who fall in love when they are 60 years old or more. The working title of the book is "The Heart Does Not Wrinkle;" the publisher is Ballantine Books. I have been interviewing couples in different parts of the country to learn about their experiences. Some are in their 60s and 70s while some in their 80s. The oldest ones are 89 and 94; they have been together for two years.
