The 2018 Meadowlark Wellness Olympiad has come to a close! It was a fun six weeks and the participants spent many hours being active. Totaling up the physical activity from all of our participants, they completed roughly 887 hours during the Olympiad. Great job and keep moving!
The competition was tight until the very end and came down to the final challenge at the post party. Team Germany (Cam Beatty, Don and Bea Rasmussen) were able to pull out the narrow victory, keeping their winning streak alive. Cam, Don and Bea have now won the Olympiad for three straight years!
Registration for the 2018 Meadowlark Wellness Olympiad is now open! Registration forms can be found at the Hospitality Desk and completed forms should be placed in the drop box at the same location. Sign your team up before the registration deadline of Monday, April 2.
The Olympiad will start with the Kick-off Party from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 6, in the Community Room where we will distribute participant materials, review the rules and hold the first Team Challenge.
The time has come to start preparing for the ninth-annual Speedy PD Race for Parkinson’s Disease, which will take place Saturday, August 26, at Tuttle Creek State Park. A walking group led by Hannah Willems, our Meadowlark Fitness Intern, will meet every Thursday leading up to the race.
All walking speeds are welcome and distances will vary. The group will meet at the Village Entrance every Thursday at 9 a.m. starting July 6 and will walk various routes around the Meadowlark campus. Note that the last walking session will be Wednesday, Aug. 23.
The last few days and challenges are upon us! Track your physical activity for the rest of this week and turn in your Week Six sheet by next Tuesday, May 24. The tracking sheets will be due at the Hospitality Desk or Caul Fitness Center by 5 p.m.
The Paper Airplane Challenge will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Game Room. Teams will be able to use as much of that time as desired to build their airplanes and see how far it will fly.
We are nearing the final week of our Meadowlark Hills Wellness Olympiad, but there is still time to earn valuable points for your team! Week Five tracking sheets will be due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at the Hospitality Desk or Caul Fitness Center.
The Brain Teaser Challenge will be held Friday, May 13.Your team can pick up a sheet from the Hospitality Desk from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each team will receive one point for participating in the challenge, two points for each correct answer and ten points for the fastest “correct” completion time.
We are in Week Three of the Olympiad! Be sure you are tracking all physical activity and turn in your sheet by next Tuesday, May 3, at 5 p.m. Tracking sheets can be turned in at the Hospitality Desk or the Caul Fitness Center.
Today, April 28, will be our Free Throw Challenge in the Community Room and a Group Walk, meeting at the Village Entrance. Both events will kick off at 4 p.m., so you can choose which one to complete first, but there will be plenty of time for both.
The Olympiad has been a lot of fun so far, with teams showing their competitive spirit in an attempt to earn points!
Continue tracking your physical activity on the Week Two tracking sheets, which will be due at the Hospitality Desk or Caul Fitness Center by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 26.
The Sudoku Puzzle Challenge will be Monday April 25. Puzzles can be picked up at the Hospitality Desk. Each participant can complete a puzzle, with one point being earned per puzzle. The resident and employee who correctly complete their puzzle in the fastest time will earn a prize!
The Olympiad has now begun and all participants should be recording their physical activity on the tracking sheets. Week One tracking sheets will be due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 19. They can be dropped off at the Hospitality Desk or in the Caul Fitness Center.
Registration is open for the upcoming Meadowlark Hills Wellness Olympiad, so form a team of three participants and join the challenge!
Registration forms can be found at the Hospitality Desk, and the deadline to enter is Tuesday, April 5. All residents, employees and Passport members are welcome to participate and you can create teams of your choosing.
The Speedy PD Race for Parkinson’s Disease is fast approaching and Team Meadowlark Hills is looking for more members! The half-mile fun run and walk, 5k run/walk and 10k run are set for the morning of Saturday, Aug. 29, at Tuttle Creek State Park.
The event is open to all interested participants with the purpose of raising funds for the Parkinson’s Program of Manhattan at Meadowlark Hills. Team Meadowlark Hills hopes to create the largest team to participate in this year’s event.
