Q: Annie, you were out of the office the last week for a few days, what were you up to?

A: Thank you for noticing. I was invited to speak at a leadership conference in California, over the leadership program I have been co-writing.

I’ve been asked by many of you “when will the office moves start happening?” Well the time is now! For those who haven’t noticed my recent exodus from the office in the south hallway, I have moved to the CEO office in the west hall of the Community Center. This is the beginning of several office moves and the intention is to make this a long-term destination for all involved.

Don’t miss your chance to see the poppy display in the main lobby! Poppies will be on display until after Memorial Day. To honor a veteran, you may purchase a potted poppy for $10 at the Hospitality Desk. The name of your honored loved one will be displayed with the poppy. The amount can be paid by cash, check or added to your monthly statement. The proceeds will benefit the Meadowlark Hills Veterans Group. Your poppy may be picked up after Memorial Day, May 27, until Wednesday, May 29.

As the dust begins to settle, inevitable decisions and transitions are beginning to take shape. I participated in a learning circle with staff members on Wednesday, May 8, to discuss the changes. First off, my previous position, Chief Operating Officer (COO), will not be filled. I am happy to say that by removing the COO position, a layer will be eliminated from the organizational structure. The COO responsibilities will be distributed among three of our current staff members: Garrett Lee, Annie Peace and Sarah Guge.

The late Virginia Honstead is described as an extreme extrovert and her contributions to her Meadowlark Hills community are immeasurable.

Virginia and her late husband’s financial generosity made the creation of the Honstead Household possible. She valued the opportunity for a place of worship and helped provide this to her community by facilitating the Sunday evening Vesper schedule and playing the piano during church services in Wroten.
