According to the National Institutes for Health website, pulmonary fibrosis affects 200,000 Americans. Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition in which the lung tissue becomes thickened, stiff and scarred. As this process occurs, the individual loses the ability to transfer oxygen to the bloodstream. Most cases of pulmonary fibrosis have no known cause and survival rate is low.
Q: Is there a place on campus where we can dispose of prescription and over the counter drugs?
This is a great question. It is important that we all dispose of medications properly and do not flush medication down the toilet or throw them in a trash can without taking additional measures.

Q: On the Ziploc boxes it states that when clean and dry, Ziploc bags can be recycled, is this true for our recycling?
Thank for another great question! While the box says you may recycle Ziploc bags, the local recycling service does not accept plastic bags of any sort. This includes Ziploc bags, grocery bags and newspaper bags.
Q: What do you recommend for problems with sleeping?

Everyone has problems sleeping at one time or another and a good night’s sleep is just as vital for older adults as it is for youth. Meadowlark Hills has initiated the process of converting our emergency pull-cords and personal responders to the new devices. Our current system, HomeFree, is closing business at the end of the year. Now we are required to make this change.
Stanley Healthcare, a division of Stanley Black and Decker, will be on the Meadowlark Hills campus starting Monday, Oct. 7, to begin installing the new system replacing the current HomeFree system.
