Local not-for-profit focused on supporting people in living their best lives
After the smoke of the jet engines and the squeal of the plane’s tires hitting the runway subsided, John Lindholm and Ed Call expressed gladness to be home from their flight to Washington D.C. despite the wonderful adventure.
The send-off event on June 13, for the Kansas Honor Flight participants was well-attended. Friends and family of our honorees lined Meadowlark Road, holding or waving American flags as the veterans passed by in private vehicles. Leading the way were Legion Riders on Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Riley County police officers, who escorted the veterans safely to Interstate 70. Once the veterans reached the Wichita airport, they were greeted by more well-wishers wanting to send off the Honor Flight participants in patriotic style.
In Washington D.C., Ed and John marveled at the sight of the WWII and Korean War memorials. They also witnessed the ceremony of the Changing of the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The honorees intend to document their trip and share with the community. We look forward to hearing all of their stories!
