Recycling at Meadowlark Hills
The question remains, can we place recycling containers in common areas, such as the Game Room, Billiards Parlor, Kansas Room & Pub and Verna Belle’s to encourage even more recycling? My short answer is no, but my explanation is a little more lengthy.
We are nearing the final week of our Meadowlark Hills Wellness Olympiad, but there is still time to earn valuable points for your team! Week Five tracking sheets will be due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at the Hospitality Desk or Caul Fitness Center.
The Brain Teaser Challenge will be held Friday, May 13.Your team can pick up a sheet from the Hospitality Desk from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each team will receive one point for participating in the challenge, two points for each correct answer and ten points for the fastest “correct” completion time.
Going the extra mile
Sometimes we all just need a little extra attention whether it be from our family, friends, hairstylist, restaurant server or even our doctor. A well-rounded approach to healthcare coupled with great customer service can often be the difference between a relaxing evening at home and hours spent in the ER.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote "The bards sublime/Whose distant footsteps echo/Through the Corridors of Time." Nice thought, but we have broken the land, have severed too much the corridors of both Space and Time.
Time to stand up for corridors! Not the house-bound sort used by humans, but those found on the land--floored by plants, fungi, microbes and detritus--that permit wildlife to move from one ecological region to another.
True appreciation
I always “appreciated” my Mom. I appreciated her cooking for me. I appreciated her paying for my activities. I appreciated her for listening to me when I need someone to talk to. I appreciated her for knowing exactly what to say when I was upset. I appreciated her support and I appreciated her hugs.
We are in Week Three of the Olympiad! Be sure you are tracking all physical activity and turn in your sheet by next Tuesday, May 3, at 5 p.m. Tracking sheets can be turned in at the Hospitality Desk or the Caul Fitness Center.
Today, April 28, will be our Free Throw Challenge in the Community Room and a Group Walk, meeting at the Village Entrance. Both events will kick off at 4 p.m., so you can choose which one to complete first, but there will be plenty of time for both.
Let’s Pig Out!
Today is the day! It’s time to Pig Out for Parkinson’s at Cox Bros. BBQ to support the Meadowlark Hills Parkinson’s Program. Join us as we raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease (PD).
Michelle Haub, Parkinson’s Program Leader, and the members of our Parkinson’s Core Team will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 to 9 p.m. to educate people who stop by about PD and the services offered by the Parkinson’s Program. Cox Bros. will donate 10 percent of the sales from this day to the program.
The Olympiad has been a lot of fun so far, with teams showing their competitive spirit in an attempt to earn points!
Continue tracking your physical activity on the Week Two tracking sheets, which will be due at the Hospitality Desk or Caul Fitness Center by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 26.
The Sudoku Puzzle Challenge will be Monday April 25. Puzzles can be picked up at the Hospitality Desk. Each participant can complete a puzzle, with one point being earned per puzzle. The resident and employee who correctly complete their puzzle in the fastest time will earn a prize!
