This Osher class examines the Chisholm Trail and one of the first cowtowns: Abilene, Kansas. Kansas became the destination, not only of herds of cattle, but also the most romantic American characters, the cowboys. The discussions in this class will include where the men came from, who they were, what they accomplished and cowboys as products of their times.
Join Roy Bird, teacher of Kansas history for decades, as he discusses cowtowns including, Abilene, Wichita, Dodge City and more from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Manhattan Arts Center. The second and third classes will be Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the same location and time.
Please sign up in the Blue Book located at the Hospitality Desk for transportation.
