Meadowlark is alive. That was obvious from the moment we walked in the door.

Local not-for-profit focused on supporting people in living their best lives
I had the privilege to know and care for Jean Caul in the last few years of her life. She was an outstanding person who paved the way for women in physical education. She was the first woman to receive her doctoral degree in physiological chemistry from the College of Medicine at OhioStateUniversity, in 1942.
Jean came to Manhattan to work at KansasStateUniversity in the College of Human Ecology. Jean lived at Meadowlark Hills for many years before she passed away in November 2009, at the age of 94.
Jean knew the secret to longevity and the importance of an active lifestyle. She donated a portion of her estate to Meadowlark Hills to build a complex to promote health and wellness. We now refer to this complex as the CaulFitnessCenter.
The CaulFitnessCenter offers multitudes of physical health opportunities, including fitness classes, personal training sessions, equipment demonstrations and massage therapy.
The Fitness Team offers Senior Fitness Assessments free of charge to Meadowlark Hills residents and Passport members. Personal training sessions are available for a charge ($20 for 30 minutes; $35 for one hour). Contact Jeff Heidbreder at (785) 341-2995 for more information or to set up an appointment.
On the Meadowlark Hills campus, you will find two massage therapists, Kate Cashman and Sara Hillard. Services are available for a charge ($50 for one hour or $30 for 30 minutes). Reserve your appointment by contacting Kate at 537-1911 or Sara at (208) 949-5297.
