Lonnie Baker, Chief Executive Officer

Lonnie Baker is the esteemed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Meadowlark, bringing visionary and strategic leadership to the organization. In his role as CEO, Lonnie collaborates with the Board of Trustees and senior leaders, charting a course towards the achievement of short-term and long-range organizational goals.

Lonnie's journey with Meadowlark began in 2011 when he assumed the role of Chief Operations Officer, marking the commencement of a transformative chapter in the organization's growth. Prior to joining Meadowlark, Lonnie served as the administrator at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. His career in healthcare dates back to 1997, and he transitioned to senior services in 2008, showcasing his commitment to the well-being of aging populations.

A Preceptor for Kansas Administrator in Training, and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Kansas, Lonnie's expertise extends across various facets of healthcare administration. He has actively contributed to the field as a board member of LeadingAge Kansas and as a past member of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce board.

Lonnie holds a Doctor of Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Cleveland Chiropractic College. His professional journey reflects a commitment to holistic well-being, aligning seamlessly with Meadowlark's mission.

A Kansas native, Lonnie's connection to Manhattan is deeply rooted, with childhood memories of visiting the area where his father was born just east of the city. Graduating from Wichita East High School, Lonnie and his wife, Karen, share a love story that began in 1989, culminating in marriage in 1997. The couple resides in Manhattan and they have three children.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Lonnie treasures the unique spirit at Meadowlark, stating, "Few organizations are blessed with the talent and dedication that we have here. I most appreciate the opportunity to interact daily with this very special group of staff and residents." His genuine appreciation for the Meadowlark community underscores his commitment to fostering a positive and enriching environment for both residents and staff.

In reflecting on his favorite time of the year, Lonnie expresses a particular fondness for the holiday season at Meadowlark Hills. He notes, "I love the holiday season, and at Meadowlark Hills, it is extra special. Spirits are high, and people are even more joyful. It is a great experience."
