The 6th annual HOG & Kisses Contest, a feature of Meadowlark Foundation’s HOGTOBERFEST, promises X’s and Oh’s! Five local 2019 Manhattan Mercury Readers’ Choice winners are vying for your votes/donations. The person/business who raises the most money will kiss a (young) hog during HOGTOBERFEST, a FOOD, FRIENDS and FUNdraising event set for 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Cox Bros. BBQ, 223 McCall Road.

The hog kissing candidates are:

• Best Accountant Office, Sink, Gordon & Associates LLP

  Partner Justin Minchow is the firm’s representative.

• Best Attorney, Jim Morrison

  Jim is an Attorney at Morrison, Frost, Olsen, Irvine & Schartz, LLP

• Best Auction Service, Gannon Real Estate & Auction

  Owner Vern Gannon is the representative.

• Best Beauty Salon, Gallery for Hair

  Owner Ted Hartke and four others are representing the salon.

• Best Jewelry Store, Pfeifley Jewelers

  Owner Rick Pfeifley is the store’s representative.

Your donation for your candidate is tax-deductible, and voting online continues through Wednesday, Oct. 23. Proceeds benefit the Foundation’s Good Samaritan Fund, which supports Meadowlark Hills residents who live in a healthcare household and who have exhausted their financial resources.
