Operation: Groupthink

Wednesday, March 5, 2014 - 7:00pm

Location: KSU Classroom

Vasili Markou, Anthropology student, is hosting the Operation: Groupthink project at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the KSU Classroom.

The purpose of this event is to prompt thought and conversation about fascinating ideas and what the implications of these ideas could mean for society. For the first session, a short clip will be shown of a monologue from renowned astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson. In this clip, Tyson juxtaposes imagery of the tiny elements that make up all matter with the vastness of the entire cosmos in order to make us think about where we, as human beings, fit in to this incredibly complex cosmic arena.

If you feel like astronomy and astrophysics are beyond you, don’t worry! Dr. Tyson has a way of putting amazing and complex ideas into layman’s terms, so that we can discuss them quite easily. Think of it as talking about ideas, not about specific astronomy theory.

If anyone would like to prompt conversation about any other topic, please do! Please join us in learning and thinking and share your wonderful insights with the group!

If you have any questions about the project or if you have recommendations on what topics to bring up in the group thinking/discourse session, please do not hesitate to call Visili at (913) 426-0547.
