I LOVE the people that live at Meadowlark Hills. We are all different but similar, and that makes for a great place to live.

Marla Bugbee was recently awarded the Who’s Who in Clovia Alumna award. Clovia 4-H House was established by former 4-H girls at Kansas State University in 1931. It holds the distinction of KSU’s first cooperative living house. Today Clovia 4-H House continues to provide the most affordable housing for women students at KSU. Former 4-H women live together in a cooperative manner, sharing an average of five hours per week of housework and food preparation. The Kansas 4-H Foundation serves as the landlord for the Clovia house.
For the month of June, the Jeans Days will benefit the Good Samaritan Fund. On Tuesday, June 10, and Wednesday, June 18, employees are welcome to wear jeans to work with a minimum donation of $1. If you wish to donate to the cause, see Christina Strange in the Human Resources office, across from Verna Belle’s Café.
John Mann received the Manhattan Legacy Award on Monday, May 19, at the Meadowlark Hills Legacy Banquet.
Coach Bill Snyder, head coach for the Kansas State University football program, was the speaker for the evening. “Manhattan, Kansas is a special community,” Coach Snyder said. “All of us here chose to stay and the value of Manhattan is its people; people who genuinely care.”
Q: What specific plastics can we recycle?
Great question, as our recycling service has recently changed their practice.
As Memorial Day approaches, it is time to pause and consider the true meaning of this holiday.
Purchase a geranium to honor a veteran who has served our country! The plants will be on display in the main lobby from Monday, May 19, until after Memorial Day. The name of your honored loved one will be displayed with the geranium. The proceeds will benefit the Meadowlark Hills Veterans’ Group.
On Sunday, June 1, Vespers will resume at Meadowlark Hills in the Community Room. Services will begin at 7 p.m. and last for approximately 30 minutes. We appreciate the work of the Vespers Steering Committee consisting of Meadowlark Hills residents with staff support from Chaplain Patty Brown-Barnett. Watch for additional details in the next edition of the Meadowlark Hills Messenger.
Remember, if you move or change your name, you must re-register to vote! It is still very important that we let our voices be heard by voting. This year is a very important voting year. Meadowlark Hills is no longer a voting site. Although there will be shuttles to the fire station located at Denison Ave. and Kimball Ave. on voting day – there is another way to consider—registering for a permanent advance ballot. Our County Clerk’s Office tells us:
