Part D Open Enrollment again was a success this year. Twenty-eight people signed up and 21 of the 28 changed their Part D drug plan for an average savings of $556.70 per person or $11,690.70 total savings. A big thank you to residents and MLH staff for making the day successful.

Please remember to have copies of your new 2016 Medical or Part D prescription insurance cards turned into the Finance Office as soon as you get them.

Joy of Friendship

Submitted by Teresa Wells

JOY of friendship.

JOY of friendship is a blessing. It can be found in many things.

So simple is this blessing that if your eyes aren’t open its blessing may remain unseen.

JOY in a smile.

JOY in the touch of a hand.

JOY of being accepted as you are.

JOY of exchange of love with a wink or a nod of a head.

When all other forms of communication have disappeared with the challenges of life.

JOY of belonging and not feeling alone.

Golf carts?

There is a dull buzz starting at Meadowlark Hills regarding personal golf cart usage. Can residents purchase and utilize a golf cart on our campus? The short answer is yes!

Personal golf cart usage is okay on the Meadowlark Hills campus! Purchasing a golf cart for use on campus is something that some of you may have considered to create an easier way to get to different areas. Historically, there have not been many residents that choose to purchase and utilize a golf cart for this purpose, but it is an option that is available to residents.

The cold stillness and silvered moonlight created a magic moment during this starry fog-breath night.

Light played across the smooth surface of Bayer Pond. The trees shimmered their frosty haloes. Or were the limbs giving each other good tidings?

Coyotes were singing. Or were angels hovering with their message of hope?

The grass crunched as I walked. Or was the Earth simply yielding a bit in deference to someone wanting to share enchantment?

During the Sunday of our recent “Endless Ice” weekend, I hiked some about our campus and natural area. The Place was sheathed and frozen in stillness, save for the frequent cat-paw-soft falling of freezing rain, the whistling of wind around brick wall corners, and the creaking and groaning of swaying grass stems and tree branches. Many trees and shrubs bowed dangerously low under more added weight than botanical structure might manage. Some branches gave way.

What is it? It consists of residents who volunteer, plus an advisor (Jay Nelson) who helps direct and facilitate the collection. The advisor is non-voting member. Committee functions are to manage content, placement and condition of the collection house in independent living and Community Center areas. They work closely with the administration representative on the committee who keeps records and inventory of the collection.
