Christmas Carousel, a party for independent living residents and Passport members, is fast approaching! From 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, each group will experience music, food and all the colors of the Christmas Color Wheel, free of charge.
Reservations are now closed. You will soon be receiving a personalized reminder of the group you have registered for. If you have already signed up and have decided you cannot attend, please contact Amanda Rall at 323-3801, to allow space for other interested persons. There is limited space for all residents, but we hope to be able to make this an enjoyable event for everyone who would like to attend. This year we added an extra group and additional room to the carousel because of the great attendance from years past.
Please meet at your group’s designated location to begin the journey spinning through various Christmas colors. In the Community Room, you will experience a blue Christmas with appearances by Elvis Presley himself. Continue to the green Christmas in the Game Room where you’ll be greeted by the smell of Christmas trees and egg nog! Next, the Prairie Star Restaurant will be covered in a blanket of snowy white. If you are dreaming of white Christmas, this room will make your dreams come true! You will be serenaded by the barbershop quartet, Manhattan Music Machine. Now use your imagination on this next room. In the Grosh Cinema, the visions of Tim Burton, producer of the hit movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” will come alive in the black Christmas room. If you’re not familiar with this movie, it will be shown on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in the cinema. On down the hall in the Classroom, you will experience the red room. Mystical trees and lights will please your senses. End your night with a hot chocolate spiked with peppermint schnapps and a candy cane nightcap.
Since Prairie Star Restaurant will be one of the featured rooms for the party, it will not be available to restaurant patrons. The restaurant will be closed at 2 p.m. However, Verna Belles Café will stay open until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, featuring a dinner special of meatloaf sandwich, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy for $6.50.
