Q: The loss of the speed bump this winter at the Meadowlark Hills entrance from Kimball Avenue has been a “blessing in disguise.” Are all of the speed bumps really necessary?
A: Thank you for the question. Campus safety is a top priority. Meadowlark Hills has an experienced leader, Mike Davis, who serves the role of Safety Officer. Mike has discussed the issue of the speed bumps with the Safety Team as well as the Building and Grounds Committee. The decision continues to provide campus safety by promoting a reasonable speed on our campus as well as being accommodating for mobility and accessibility considerations. The speed bump will be replaced, however only the east half of it, which only impacts drivers entering from Kimball Avenue to encourage them to slow down. The other half of the speed bump will not be replaced and all other speed bumps will remain in place at this time.
Keep the great questions coming!
