Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is focused on the evaluation and treatment for speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing issues. Some of the areas of focus within speech therapy may include:

• Word-finding skills
• Voice quality and loudness
• Safe swallowing
• Memory enhancement

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is focused on the treatment of psychological, social, and environmental factors that impede successful functioning. Occupational therapy may also help compensate for a permanent loss of function, such as with use of special equipment. Areas of focus with occupational therapy may include:

• Daily activities
• Home evaluations
• Adaptation recommendations
• Guidance for family and caregivers

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy involves the use of physical means, such as exercise, massage, light, cold, heat, electricity, and mechanical devices, in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and other physical disorders. Some areas of focus within physical therapy may include:

• Balance
• Walking
• Strengthening
• Pain management
• Exercise program development

Low-Vision Services

One in six adults over the age of 45 can experience problems with vision. If visual impairment is altering your daily life, our low-vision specialists can help. By identifying issues caused by vision loss, our occupational therapists can help build an individualized plan for you to live safely while retaining the highest degree of independence possible. 

Services are available to both residents and non-residents, and may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Comprehensive assessment
• Instruction for maximizing vision for daily living
• Recommendations for adaptive vision equipment
