Ask Annie!

Question: Why have employees been wearing jeans to work, outside of Fridays?

Answer: I am glad you asked! This idea was a result of brainstorming ways to give back to the community. Twice a month, employees have the opportunity to donate a dollar to wear jeans on specified days. The money raised will benefit various causes.

The initial movement was to support a co-worker with medical bills as she is living through her reoccurrence of leukemia. Not only did the employees raise a few hundred dollars for this cause, we raised community awareness about bone marrow transplants. Meadowlark Hills also held a bone marrow registry drive.

Last month, the money from jeans days went to the Flint Hills Breadbasket. For the month of December, we are sponsoring a family for the holidays. Money raised in January will stay right here at home, and go toward the Good Samaritan Fund.

We invite you to join us. Consider donating each month to the cause if you would like. Money is collected in the Human Resources office. You can also participate by wearing jeans along with us to support the awareness of our efforts.
