Grant awarded to the Parkinson's Program

on June 28, 2012

The Parkinson’s Program of Manhattan at Meadowlark Hills was awarded a grant from the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation to help fund an educational opportunity for those affected by Parkinson’s disease. The Foundation is providing the program $1,500, which will be used towards expenses for a Parkinson’s Educational Symposium for the Flint Hills region. The purpose of such an event is to educate those with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones, and to promote awareness of the prevalence of the disease and effective interventions. The funds should be used within 18 months of the award.

Michelle Haub, Parkinson’s Program Director, is thankful to have been selected as a recipient of the grant, stating, “There were many strong applications for great projects by other organizations. I am ecstatic that the Foundation recognized our efforts and supports us.”

The Parkinson’s Program team, with the help of external partners, will begin planning for the event following the completion of the Speedy PD race, which is scheduled for Aug. 25, 2012. Stay tuned for more details and join me in congratulating Michelle and the Parkinson’s Program on this awesome opportunity!
