Things to Do in Manhattan

The Arts

Whether you’re talking art, theatre or concerts, Manhattan has it in spades. Each year, McCain Auditorium on the K-State campus is host to a brilliant performance series featuring acting, dancing and comedy. Meadowlark groups regularly attend McCain events together, so you’ll always be able to find a date! And local art museums and galleries — including the Manhattan Arts Center, the Strecker-Nelson Gallery, and K-State’s Beach Museum of Art — offer exhibits, openings and speakers to appeal to your artistic side. We provide transportation to many events.

Sports

As part of the Big 12, one of the strongest collegiate conferences in the nation, K-State sports teams compete on the local stage in football, volleyball, basketball, golf, tennis, baseball and more. Let yourself relish the chance to see these impressive athletes up close and personal.

The Links

Manhattan has some of the best golfing fairways in the region, including those at Colbert Hills, a world-class championship golf course. Home to both the women’s and men’s K-State golf teams, Colbert Hills was designed in the Scottish links style and features a tremendous view of the Flint Hills.

Places of Worship

If you want to find a religious community locally, Manhattan has more than 50 places of worship. You’ll have no problem finding a place where you can connect with your spirituality.

Opportunities for Involvement

Manhattan is a great place to put your long-time ambitions into motion. Become an active member of the community by volunteering at a local business or agency that will welcome your contributions, or exercise your work experience with a second or ongoing career. You can even expand your horizons through courses at K-State or the UFM Community Learning Center. Our residents volunteer at the zoo, exhibit artwork locally, and teach courses at K-State. The sky’s the limit.
