Things to Do on Campus
Recreation
Shoot a game of pool in the billiards parlor, or put your green thumb to use in the community garden. Work up a sweat in one of our exercise classes. Show off your bridge game, or stroll along our walking trail. We even arrange for musical presentations and guest speakers from time to time. Our weekly newsletter outlines the week’s events for you.
Excursions
An evening on the town. A day-trip. An out-of-state vacation. Meadowlark organizes trips and tours throughout the year, so you can get away without the headache of planning. Past trips have ranged from Aggieville to Topeka, and Chicago to Nashville. Just pack up your things and hit the road!
Education
As part of a college town, educational opportunities abound at Meadowlark.
K-State’s Department of Gerontology and Center on Aging faculty conduct classes at Meadowlark, with residents serving at different times as students, mentors and teachers. And faculty and students from K-State’s drama therapy program offer an acting class on our campus. We also hold classes covering everything from computers to line dancing to brain fitness.
Worship
Meadowlark provides a number of on-campus religious services and studies, including weekly chapel services, vespers, Bible studies, and discussion groups. You’re sure to find a place to let your spirituality grow and shine.
Membership
Join the fun in one — or more! — on-campus groups. Like to sing, read or get together over a great meal? Clubs such as the Meadowlark Singers, the Book Club and the Lunch Bunch could be perfect for you. Choose from established groups…or start your own!
Leadership
Get involved! Monthly town hall meetings serve as a forum for residents to discuss what’s happening at Meadowlark, and a place to learn what’s new from staff. If you want to make your voice count on campus, you can join one of several committees — Resident Council, the Building and Grounds Committee, the Art Committee, the Library Committee and more — that help direct campus life. Or lend a hand, volunteering with tasks such as fundraising, and prepping and delivering the Meadowlark newsletter.
