MANHATTAN, KAN. April 7, 2009– The Kansas Dept. on Aging awarded Meadowlark Hills a letter of exemplary care for its quality care programs.. This award was based on the most recent survey conducted in February by state of Kansas surveyors.
Exemplary achievements included the development and implementation of an exemplary care management system which resulted in residents regaining and/or maintaining the highest practical level of mobility and the development, implementation and cultivation of a comprehensive program resulting in the highest recognition and respect for resident rights.
Willie Novotny, Executive Leader of Meadowlark Hills, said we’ve been recognized for some time for our households and the cultural message they send, that elders can continue to live in a home regardless of their physical needs. This award acknowledges that our systems that ensure our clinical and other operational standards are at an equally high level.
“Our annual Department on Aging survey measures standards that everyone across the nation is expected to reach.” Novotny said. “An Exemplary Care letter means that we’ve pushed the envelope to the highest level of the standard.”
Meadowlark Hills was also awarded a four-star rating (5 stars being the highest) from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The rating is given to Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing homes in the country. The four-star rating was given on measures including nursing home staffing, quality measures, and health and life-safety inspections.
