Household Cook

POSITION SUMMARY

The Household Cook is responsible for ensuring the household kitchen has the look, feel, and aroma of a residents/guests home. To insure quality, the Household Cook prepares food within an established production system according to standardized recipes, preparation, service methods, and food handling techniques.  The Household Cook creates “made to order” requests during breakfast, assists with dining room/kitchen cleaning duties, and works with the team to create resident-centered live enhancement for the residents/guests. The Household Cook follows established safety and sanitary precautions when performing duties in the kitchen and dining room. The Household Cook maintains a professional work relationship with residents/guests, and remains knowledgeable of resident rights, including the right to determine their own preferences. The Cook is responsible for the preparation, production and delivery of quality meals to the residents and guests of the Household in which they work with an average of 20-30 people per meal.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures quality meals are prepared in the house during resident’s      preferred choice of time.
  • Interacts with and ensures residents’ dining      preferences and dietary needs are met daily.
  • Works with the household team and residents to      create resident-centered life enhancement in the household.
  • Maintain and fully stock all supplies and      equipment to continuously meet resident needs, while using supplies and      equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Safely performs all cooking, cleaning, and      sanitation procedures in accordance with policies and regulations, within      the dining room and kitchen areas.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions and any observed      areas in poor repair to team leaders.
  • Uses confidentiality and proper chain of command      when passing along information, changes, or concerns of residents.

  • Supports each other in meeting all job requirements, actively participates in being a learning and teaching organization. Willingness to continue to learn and seek improvement.
  • Flexibility to assist and serve in other positions when necessary and qualified.
  • Attends in-service training programs.
  • Responsible for staying abreast of current laws, regulations, policies, procedures and best practices and adapting to company and industry changes.
  • Responsible for performing other duties as assigned.

Must be able to work at least every other weekend. Benefits are available to full-time and part-time employees.
