Meadowlark Hills is currently seeking Servers to work in our Prairie Star Restaurant. Part-time positions are available. Must be able to work every other weekend. Benefits are available to full-time and part-time employees.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Server is responsible for ensuring that customer needs are met and that customer service and hospitality are at the highest level.  Servers serve food and drinks to Prairie Star Restaurant customers and guests in a timely manner.  Server is responsible for great customer service and ensuring that any need of a guest is addressed.  Servers will follow established safety and sanitary precautions when performing duties in the restaurant and kitchen.  Servers maintain a professional work relationship with residents, guests and customers and remain knowledgeable of resident rights.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  •  Ensures customer service and hospitality standards are met.
  • Interacts with and ensures customers food and drinks are served promptly and within established time tables
  • Maintain and fully stock all supplies and equipment to continually meet customers’ needs, while using supplies and equipment safely and efficiently.
  •  Safely performs all service, prep, cleaning and sanitation procedures in accordance with policies and regulations, within the restaurant and kitchen.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions and any observed areas in poor repair to team leaders
  • Uses confidentiality and proper chain of command when passing along information, changes or concerns of residents, guests or customers
  • Personally responsible and held accountable for following Meadowlark Hills’ mission and values while maintaining and living out our philosophy of person centered care – person first.

Experience:  The Server is expected to have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the job satisfactorily in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations of Meadowlark Hills. Knowledge of good customer service and hospitality standards is required.

Education:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Certification Requirements: None

Personal Skills: Accurate, detailed, and dependable, with the ability to help make safe logical decisions regarding service to residents, guests and customers. Strong initiative, patience, interpersonal relations, relationship building, communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and critical thinking skills are a must. The ability to prioritize and adjust to changing situations while remaining professional in a “person first” environment is also required. Relates well with residents/guests and is able to motivate and empathize.  Able to practice active listening with customers as well as the ability to empathize with concerns or complaints.

Supervision:  This position has no direct supervision of other Meadowlark Hills team members.

Financial Accountability:  Responsible for making optimal use of all resources including time, while respecting residents and Meadowlark Hills’ property.

Personal Relations: The server works closely with all members of the kitchen and restaurant team.  The server also works closely with residents, guests and customers and responds to all requests in a professional and courteous manner.

Working Environment: A server is often exposed to loud noises (from mixers, commercial dishwashers, etc) and extreme heat (from kitchen ovens, steamers, etc).  The server may perform duties such as, but not limited to, emptying trash, cleaning and scrubbing floors, washing dishes, etc.  A server must observe rigid, standardized guidelines to guard against disease and other dangers, wearing protective equipment when needed.  A server must also work closely with residents, guests and customers in an emotional charged environment.  A server primarily works in a climate control setting but may be required to work outside in all seasons.

Physical Demands:  This position requires physical activity to perform the daily duties and must be able to move intermittently and stand for long periods throughout the workday. The Server must be able to serve customers and perform routine cleaning duties. Requires the ability to stand, push, pull, carry, move, bend, kneel, reach, and lift a minimum of 20lbs. Must use universal precautions in all situations. The Server may need to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations. The Server must also have the ability to use and operate various appliances (dishwashers, stoves, microwaves, etc.) with normal visual range, acuity, color determination, and the ability to distinguish letters and numbers. Good oral communication skills, the ability to speak clearly, and the ability to listen attentively with appropriate hearing acuity is required.

Work Hours: The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 1030am to 8pm and from 1030am to 7pm on Sundays.  Servers must have the availability to work during some or all of these hours all days including weekends and holidays.  Primary work hours are dependent upon the shift(s) needed for full-time and part-time positions. Prefer no more than 40 hours per week. A Server may be on an on-call rotation and subject to emergency call outs on short notice. Hours may vary depending upon business needs. Adjustments to the schedule are made to accommodate these demands when necessary.
