Human Resources Generalist

Meadowlark Hills is seeking to hire a full-time Human Resources Generalist. The HR Generalist is responsible for tracking applications, conducting interviews, and completing various functions as part of the application process such as background checks, reference checks, and sending rejection letters. The HR Generalist is also responsible for managing the Company Orientation process and assisting in the planning of various programs, activities, and special events. The HR Generalist manages the Human Resources Office and is a resource to employees and Service Area Leaders. The HR Generalist plays a key role in employee satisfaction and retention by managing monthly and annual employee recognition events, interacting with employees and managing employee compliance program.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with Human Resources Leader in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Development of an employee-oriented culture emphasizing quality, safety, continuous improvement, and a superior workforce with high performance.
  • Plan, organize, guide and assist with the overall functions of Human Resources services, policies and procedures for the organization, including, but not limited to employment, recruitment, selection and retention, risk management, employee relations and conflict resolution, performance and talent management, training and development; organizational development, compliance, documentation, recordkeeping and reporting, benefits, compensation and payroll, equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and the strategic Human Resources planning.
  • Responsible for assisting with recruitment, selection, staffing, orientation, training, coaching, performance management and improvement efforts. Assists in maintaining all related records and reports.
  • Responsible for assisting with   employment law compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  • Proficient in policy and procedure development, implementation and the maintenance of policies and procedures, job descriptions and other Human Resources related documentation.
  • Establish and maintain all confidential personnel files, department records and reports.
  • Provide technical Human Resources advice and knowledge to others, and responsible for continuous coaching and education to organization leaders on Human Resources issues.  Work directly with leaders to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or relevant field of study preferred. 

Education & Experience:  A bachelor’s degree and two to three years’ human resource experience, or a master’s degree in human resource management, or five years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.

Decision Making: Logical sound judgment is needed when making cost and time effective decisions, and taking appropriate action concerning employees at all levels of the organization, residents and household teams. Maintains compliance and safety standards while focusing on a person-first philosophy.

Certification Requirements: Must be an approved Meadowlark Hills Driver (will obtain onsite).

Supervision: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization.

Financial Accountability:  Responsible for assisting with the annual Human Resources budget, and making optimal use of all resources including time, while respecting residents and Meadowlark Hill’s property.  Demonstrates ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches, and departmental contribution while being cost-sensitive.

Working Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The Human Resources Generalist is subject to frequent interruptions involving employees, applicants, residents, guests, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.

Physical Demands:  This position requires physical activity and moderate movement throughout the workday in order to perform daily duties. Requires the ability to stand, walk, push, pull, carry, move, bend, kneel, squat, reach, stretch, and lift objects; must use universal precautions in all situations. Must be able to operate office equipment (phone, computer, printer, copier, fax machine, etc), and various equipment and mobility devices (wheelchair, walker, gait belt, mechanical lift, etc) used by/for residents. These operations must be performed with normal visual range, acuity, color determination, and the ability to distinguish letters and numbers. Good oral communication skills, the ability to speak clearly, and the ability to listen attentively with appropriate hearing acuity is required.

Work Hours: Meadowlark Hills is a 24/7 healthcare facility, requiring employees to work 7 days a week, nights, weekends and holidays, etc. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
