Director of Nursing

Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community is looking to hire a Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for planning, developing, organizing and directing the overall clinical operations to ensure that the highest degree of quality nursing care is delivered and maintained at all times.  The DON ensures key quality performance indicators are met and evaluates systems, making modifications when necessary, to achieve positive clinical outcomes.

The Director of Nursing must:  

  • Ensure resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to file a complaint, are well established and maintained at all times
  • Assist in the development of and participate in programs designed for in-service education, on-the-job training and orientation classes for departmental staff
  • Facilitate and coordinate efforts to ensure the facility is prepared for surveys from external auditing agencies and work with teams to make necessary modifications to ensure the facility performs satisfactorily on surveys.
  • Work with the facility’s clinical professionals as necessary and implement recommended changes as required
  • Visit with residents and families frequently to evaluate satisfaction with and the delivery of services.
  • Supports team in meeting all job requirements, provides timely feedback, and actively participates in being a learning and teaching organization.
  • Possess a willingness to continue to learn and seek improvement.
  • Have a minimum 3 to 5 years of Nursing Supervision experience and/or education required. The Director of Nursing Services is expected to have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the job satisfactorily in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations of Meadowlark Hills.
  • Possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas.
  • Possess a Nursing Degree (RN) from an accredited college, university or nursing school.

This position exercises supervision over all Nursing personnel.  The Director of Nursing will predominantly maintain daytime business hours however, some nights and weekends will be required and other hours as needed.  The Director of Nursing or his/her designee is expected to be available at all times in the event of emergencies.
