Our ongoing renovations will bring several exciting additions to Meadowlark in 2009. Thanks in great part to our benefactors (link to Giving), these expansions and improvements allow us to build the kind of Meadowlark our residents deserve.
New health care households
Our new, recently completed skilled nursing households (link to Health Care Households), Bramlage House and Wroten House, consist of all private rooms, something that further distinguishes Meadowlark among retirement communities. The design of these households is rooted in making residents feel both respected and connected. A future goal includes creating private rooms for all health care residents.
Physician clinic
There is no addition more important than the recent opening of the on-campus physician clinic, Meadowlark Medical Professionals, which is part of a team of care providers called Meadowlark Wellness Partners (link to Services / Health & Fitness). Meadowlark Medical Professionals enables residents to receive care from a board certified physician, Dr. Joe Schlageck, and a care team of nurses, rehabilitation specialists and other medical professionals without ever leaving their own community.
Expanded Community Center
Existing resident recreational rooms and staff offices are being renovated as part of a two-phase project. Currently, Community Center visitors may enjoy a game room, billiards parlor, restaurant, pub, hair and nail salon, woodworking shop and craft room. The project list for 2009 includes the Center for Well-Being (see below for details), a classroom, a conference room and staff offices.
Fitness and wellness center
Tailored to meet the wants and needs of residents, the Center for Well-Being will consist of a workout facility with exercise equipment, resting areas, a nutrition education area, a convenience store, and an indoor pool for laps and aquatic exercise classes. An ongoing project will also provide residents with walking trails throughout the Meadowlark landscape.
Lyle House Short Stay Recovery
The 13-room Lyle House post-acute recovery center will be a soothing, restful place for residents – and non-residents – who need to transition from the hospital to their home. This dedicated space will aid and speed healing time, while putting patients and their families at ease.
