Meadowlark Spikers Take the Court
Bump, set spike! The Meadowlark neighborhood is full of life and fun as the new Beach Volleyball league gets underway. In a recent match against visitors from the KSU Foundation, the residents won the best of 3 matches by sweeping in the first two games 15-14 and 15-10. Lead by spike specialists Helen Toburen and Jeane Lundin. Since then the residents have formed a new league made of each neighborhood. All players are sitting, which allows for those who may not be able to jump and run as well to participate at an equal level. And the net is at badminton height with a big soft beach ball. Everyone is having a great time. Our league exhibition match was October 1. The Westsiders group is the two-time champion with the traveling trophy.
